In 1982 he the formed a band with long term friends playing a mix of original & covers in the blues style, they played the London circuit, and recorded several sessions through to 1988 when Ray moved to Plymouth. After finding his feet, Ray worked with Vince Lee for a couple of years before joining forces with Anna Angel in 1996 where he has been the Bass man in blues rock band Blue Angel up to this year when Anna left. Following that, now, Along with James and Monique from In Ya Pocket and Simon the drummer, the band is continuing under the new name of Redhouse. He plays in the long established Plymouth Blues/ Rock band Redhouse but still finds time to enjoy playing with In Ya Pocket. Ray says that the most important thing about playing in a band is that there is spontaneity in the performances and that there is a chemistry within the band. Both bands have those qualities that makes performances special to the players and the audience.
